CHALLENGE STATEMENTS
Challenge Statement 1: BePositive
Finding a blood donor can be a hassle especially when the blood type is rare. Resources like a website are available but are in need of improvement. Develop a smart way to connect blood donors and the ones in need of them, keeping in mind that it should be anonymous and all the health related issues are taken care of.
Challenge Statement 2: iDo
Social work is concerned with helping individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance their individual and collective well-being. Mostly, this is done through local community work, NGO work or part of the CSR activity of a business. What happens when individuals have something to share but do not have the opportunity to be connected to the groups that need the service? How can technology be used to reach out to individuals like this? The challenge is to connect those who need with those who can provide.
Challenge Statement 3: Step Ahead
Local businesses “sponsor” individual participants based on their physical activity. This platform allows each business to connect themselves to a local cause in which updates and informational content is posted regularly. Once individuals sign up and choose their sponsor, they can work together to make a difference throughout their community.
Challenge Statement 4: Lost and Found
Everyone loses something once in a while and the challenge is to find it again. Whenever someone finds the belongings of others it is hard to get in touch with the owners. One solution could be to have scanable tags on every item which enables loser and finder to get in touch with each other, using the cloud.
Challenge Statement 5: Cultivate to Grow
Agriculture constitutes an important part of Indian society and is playing an important role in the economic development of the country. There is no area of farming that will not benefit from the ubiquitous influence of mobile technology. Farmers need better selection of crops- based on location, weather, soil and more. The challenge for technology is to manage and plan crop production based on what other farmers are planning and doing.
